Dear Resident of Nether Alderley
We are currently looking to fill the two remaining vacant Councillor seats on the Parish Council.
These will be by co-option because we had the “all out” elections in May 2023 and there cannot be another lection within 6 months of that date.
To find out about what being a Parish Councillor involves then why not have a chat with David our Parish Clerk 07717 244537 and click on this LINK to Good Councillor Guide on our website.
Criteria for candidates:
- aged 18 or more
- an elector for the parish or
- resident of the parish for the past twelve months or
- rented/tenanted land in the parish or
- has his/her principal place of work in the parish or
- living within three miles radius (as the crow flies) of the parish
There are certain disqualifications from becoming a parish councillor:
- holding a paid office for the Parish Council
- bankruptcy
- having been sentenced to a term of imprisonment (whether suspended or not) of not less than three months, without the option of a fine during the five years preceding the election
- being disqualified under any enactment relating to corrupt or illegal practice
This is essentially an unpaid position other than minor expenses but can be very rewarding. There is a lot going on within the Parish which encompasses Alderley Park. You will join six other councillors in this role.
